Downsizing to move near the grandkids might seem like a dream come true—you picture more quality time, being part of everyday milestones, and building stronger bonds. But if you’re not careful, that dream can turn into a bit of a disaster. You might find yourself missing the space and independence you once had, feeling obligated to help more than you expected, or navigating unspoken family expectations. Sometimes, the charm of a smaller place wears off quickly, and you realize you didn’t just give up square footage—you left behind a lifestyle, friendships, and routines that gave you a sense of stability.
In this episode, I share my own experience of moving into a smaller, independent apartment and give you a quick mini tour of the space. Finding a place that feels just right for me has been a journey—from a big family home to my newest investment—and I’m excited to bring you along for the ride.
