My Secret Struggles With Adult CHILD ESTRANGEMENT

In midlife, you may find yourself facing the painful reality of estrangement from your adult child, and it can feel like a grief you never expected. This season of life often brings big changes—maybe a divorce, a career shift, the loss of your own parents, or a deep desire to finally focus on yourself—and those shifts can quietly ripple through your family dynamics.

Your adult child might be going through their own transformation, revisiting the past with fresh eyes, setting new boundaries, or pulling away in ways that feel confusing or hurtful. Maybe there were misunderstandings, old wounds that were never spoken aloud, or choices you made that now look different in hindsight. Whatever the cause, the distance between you can feel like a chasm, and the silence may ache more than words ever could.

You still love them fiercely, but now you’re left trying to make sense of it all—while also trying to heal, grow, and reclaim your own next chapter.

In this episode, I discuss my own experiences with estrangement and how it has impacted my current chapter in life.
