Hi Sharri, it’s your birthday twin. Hope you had a happy birthday. I loved all you said and just today, I resigned as the recording secretary at my club! I really need to volunteer and do things that are closer to my heart. It is such a relief. Since retiring and because I’m a writer, I have a hard time reading fiction. I long to get lost in a book but my mind wanders when reading others’ stories or maybe I just haven’t found a good novel in a while. But I do read a lot of non-fiction. Joan Didion once wrote about growing up and reading. Her parents would tell her “Go to the literature” whenever she had a problem to solve. I think even fictional novels and the classics can inform us what to do next as Didion’s parents believed. I’ll keep searching for a really good novel to get lost in. Thanks for this.
